L’UNESCO pubblica "The Alphabet of Hope"
On International Literacy Day each year, UNESCO reminds the international community of the status of literacy and adult learning globally.
Despite many and varied efforts, literacy remains an elusive target: some 774 million adults lack minimum literacy skills; one in five adults is still not literate and two-thirds of them are women; 72.1 million children are out of school and many more attend irregularly or drop out.

The Alphabet of Hope: Writers for Literacy is a book bringing together internationally renowned authors advocating Literacy for All. This book is published by UNESCO on the occasion of International Literacy Day.
Brothers of Pen and Paper, a documentary co-produced with AMREF, one of the largest African health organizations, and directed by young Kenyans who share their view of the links between literacy and health, will also be released on the day.
