New York 1971. This time Ray Carney is toeing the line. After four years, his past as a fence is almost a memory and his furniture store is making honest business. The context, however, doesn’t help: the crime rate is at an all-time high, the city is sliding toward bankruptcy and there is open warfare between the police and the Black Liberation Army. So when Carney can’t find tickets to the Jackson 5 concert for his daughter May, he dusts off an old contact. And in the space of a phone call, he’s back in the loop.
