The West Bank is today considered that territory of Palestine, with the eastern sector of Jerusalem, located on the western bank of the Jordan River. Closely linked to Middle Eastern dynamics, it was annexed by Jordan in 1950 and occupied by Israel in 1967, but separated from East Jerusalem. Subjected to a military administration regime, it saw the birth of the settlements of Israeli colonies, which continued even after the Oslo Accords of 1993, and are today considered a serious obstacle to the process of normalization between Israelis and Palestinians.
